Alistair qualified from the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh (too many years ago to worry about!), and gained a Diploma in Bovine Reproduction from Liverpool University in 1994; he is also a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Recognised Specialist in Veterinary Reproduction. Before relocating to Australia in mid-2012 he was a partner in Ovaflo, an ET and cattle reproduction practice in Scotland, for 19 years. Now a Senior Lecturer in Ruminant Health and Production at the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales he is the Discipline Head of the Production Animal Group within the veterinary school. His particular areas of research interests involve, amongst other things, BVDV, and its impact on production and reproductive efficiency
